What is Umberto?

What does the program do?

Umberto serves to visualize material and energy flow systems. Data are taken from external information systems or are newly modeled and calculated. With its comfortable graphic interface even complex structures can be modeled: the production facilities in a company, process and value chains, or product life cycles. Flows and stocks can be valuated using standard or individual performance indicators. Scaling per unit of products or per period is possible.

Based on the material and energy flows the costs of process activities, as well as of materials being used or waste materials that have to be disposed of, can be analyzed and displayed. The internal cost allocation carried out during the calculation allows to identify improvement potentials one a consistent basis taking into account ecological and economic aspects.

Who uses Umberto?

Umberto addresses companies with cost intensive production that whish to optimize there processes and improve their competitiveness. Umberto is also a flexible and versatile tool for research institutions and consultancies, e.g. for material flow analysis or for life cycle assessements (LCA) of products.
